Aims and Objectives
Aim
Based on best practice, the Fresh Smoke Free North East Office will deliver a region wide, comprehensive and coordinated tobacco control programme, and support local programmes of work in partnership with relevant agencies.
Objectives
1. To work in partnership with regional bodies/lead agencies across the North East to raise the profile of tobacco issues and to influence regional and local policy and decision making.
2. To provide strategic leadership and co-ordination, supporting local and regional multi-agency action on tobacco.
3. To develop and co-ordinate region-wide tobacco control programmes, particularly focussing on second hand smoking.
4. To deliver a comprehensive media and PR campaign on tobacco including the support of national campaigns.
5. To organise regular and ongoing tobacco related research and disseminate results at a regional and local level, including regular polling of public opinion.
6. To monitor tobacco industry activity and the enforcement of legislation in relation to tobacco control.
7. To monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Regional Tobacco Strategy and the activities of the tobacco control office.
