Phase 1 - June 2009 (awareness)
Phase 1 focused on building awareness via mass media channels:
- National data suggested the North East achieved a much better Quarter 3 than other regions. Compared to Q.3 of previous year, the number of Quit Dates Set were up by 18% in North East
- 45% of smokers who saw ads said they had changed their behaviour, from cutting down or talking about it with a relative to actually quitting
- A third of smokers said the adverts had made them more likely to quit
Phase 2 - January - Feb 2010 (leads)
Phase 2 focused on generating leads and footfall to NHS Stop Smoking Services, resulting in:
- 2,300 people signing up to give their details to NHS Stop Smoking Services
- 1,200 clicks on the regional Smokefree landing page
- Overall 7,700 engagements with the public at events in communities- from a chat, to handing out a flyer to signing up for LSSS support
